I am writing this as an open letter to the community and, hopefully, to put this all to rest early so it does not become a forever thing. Over the last week or so, I have received a few DMs that I want to address publicly. This is not meant to start a fight or drag anything out. I would rather say my piece once, make it clear where Land Diver Society stands, and move on.

First and foremost, just because the Society’s name has “Diver” in it does not mean only dive watches will be featured on the page, and they are by no means the only watches worn here at Land Diver Society. The name itself is a play on words. I have mainly worn dive watches over the years and have always enjoyed them, but one thing you will likely rarely, if ever, see is me actually diving or spending time in deep water. It is not my thing and never has been. I respect the people who do it and find pleasure in it; I personally do not.
The name is also a way of poking fun at myself. In a previous line of work, my team consisted of watch guys who would always give me shit because our jobs were never on the water, other than occasionally being near a lake or river. For what I was doing, something like a field watch or pilot’s watch probably made much more sense, yet there I was wearing a diver. Land Diver Society is a way of having some fun with that without taking any of this too seriously.
I enjoy all kinds of watches, mainly tool watches, with a big emphasis on dive watches, but I enjoy everything. I wear what I enjoy. No watches have been given to me for free – although, yes, it would be awesome if someday one was – and I wear what I can afford. Messaging me something along the lines of, “I thought this page was only divers. Guess I was wrong. Disappointing,” is not going to change the content I make. My suggestion is, and always will be, that if you do not like what I am making, there are a million other pages out there. I am sure someone is making exactly what you want to see. No harm, no foul. You are not going to hurt my feelings if you do not like what I make, and I genuinely wish you the best of luck finding what you do want to see.

“You’re disgusting, posting the crude things you do, posting guns, referring to sex. Your wife and family must be ashamed of you.” This is another type of message I have received. First and foremost, I never said my page was going to be the most appropriate thing in the world. Yes, things I say are crude sometimes. Yes, I post guns, knives, and EDC gear. Am I ashamed of any of it? Absolutely not. I am who I am, and you get what you get from me. This page and my writing are places where I can be 100% my authentic self.
With both of these complaints, I also want to remind everyone that you have the same ability to do what I, and many others, have done. You can start your own website, turn on your own camera, learn some basic photo editing, and do your own thing if you feel you can do it better or more “appropriately.” There is room on the internet for all of us to make the kind of content we want to see.
As for my wife, family, or friends being ashamed of me? I am in my mid-30s, have been with my wife for more than six years, and most of my friends and family have known me for decades at this point. They know exactly who I am. They are by no means disappointed in me, embarrassed by me, or ashamed of me.
I do this for fun. This is by no means a job for me. I have a full-time job where I work around 50 hours a week, and that is what pays my bills. The website and social media do not. I try to keep myself on track and give myself deadlines for posting things, but if something slips behind a little bit, I do not overstress it. I will keep doing this for as long as it remains fun and enjoyable for me. The day it stops being fun is the day I need to reevaluate why I am doing it.
I make and post what I enjoy. I try to vary the content instead of doing the same thing all the time. Repetition gets boring to me, and I feel like a lot of people are the same way. I do not chase likes, views, or followers. I believe that if I post what I genuinely like, people who truly enjoy the content will find it naturally.
I started this page in May 2026 and initially just posted random stuff while I got my feet underneath me. In late July 2026, I started putting a little more focus into things and have seen a good amount of natural growth since then. That makes me happy, and in my eyes it is great. To me, it says that there are people who appreciate what I make and appreciate me simply being myself.

I am always open to hearing what people want to see, but I cannot promise that I will always do it or that I can even make it happen. There are various reasons why certain things just are not possible, with one of the biggest being financial. I am not a rich man who can afford to go out and buy a bunch of different gear or watches every week. When I get something in, it is because it is something I wanted to purchase and use. I am not buying things simply because I think they will get me a bunch of likes or views. That would defeat a lot of the purpose behind this project.
Land Diver Society is mainly a one-person project. I write all of the articles, and I do most of the photography and editing. My wife helps by taking some of the photos and helping me manage the projects I have going on, but other than that, it is me. I could turn this into a page where I strictly post AI-created content and do the same thing with the website, but for me that would not be authentic. It would be boring, and it would remove a lot of the creativity and personal connection that make this enjoyable in the first place.
We do take photo submissions, which I use to make posts and share other people’s work. I also share a lot of content on my stories from various creators I enjoy. Land Diver Society may largely be my project, but I still want it to be part of a larger community of people who actually enjoy watches, gear, photography, and using the things they own.
Overall, I wanted to write this to clear the air on some of the negative things that have been coming in over the last week or so. Our page is not for everyone, and that is okay. It was never supposed to be. If you feel like something else would be better for you, I fully support you in finding that thing.
For everyone who does enjoy what I am doing, interacts with the posts, reads the articles, sends in photos, shares their own experiences, or simply follows along: thank you. I appreciate it. I am going to keep making Land Diver Society the way I intended it to be – authentic, imperfect, occasionally crude, varied, and centered around the watches, gear, and things I actually enjoy using.
